Choosing a home care agency can be frustrating. When the time comes to hire a home care agency, you will have many questions. You will want to make sure the agency is licensed with the State of Florida. Check with different agencies to compare their costs. Ask these questions: Does the agency secure level 2 FDLE background screenings on all their employees? Is the agency licensed, bonded and insured? What is the background of the owners? Are the employees certified and trained? Can I choose my own schedule and can I interview and choose my caregiver? Does the agency have 24/7 on-call staff?

 

All these questions are important information to have. Make sure you call several agencies and interview them before choosing the agency you will hire. Check with The Agency for Health Care Administration to see the agency’s inspection reports.

 

Most importantly, make sure you feel comfortable with the caregivers the agency is sending to your home. Your home is your castle and you should always feel safe and secure. If you are not comfortable with the caregivers, ask for replacement caregivers or find another agency.
