Q: What services are provided by Family Friends Home Care?

A: We provide CNA’s, Home Health Aids and companions in the home to assist clients with their daily life. We help with Showering, any Personal Care, Advising family of health changes, Companionship, Doctor’s appointments, Encouraging independence, Errands, Family Outings, Laundry, Local transportation, Light housekeeping, Medication Reminders, Nutritious meal preparation, Playing games and shopping.

Q: What sets you apart from your competition?

A: We require NO deposit. We have the lowest rates in the counties we serve. We require NO long term contracts, you can use us one time, or every day for as long as you need our help. There are no weekly minimum hours for care. We have a low 3 hour minimum for visits. We have also set up an hour Personal Care visit if you only require help with showering. We will customize a schedule for YOUR needs. You can choose a caregiver from our staff that you feel most comfortable with. We have 24/7 PERSONAL contact on call. You will never reach an answering service, only live, caring staff, and here for your needs at any time of the day.

Q: Do you contact the family or the treating doctors of the clients?

A: Yes. We send the doctors with the approval of the client a Medical Plan of Treatment, which asks the doctors the limitations and the medications the client is on. We then follow their instructions and provide feedback to them on monthly basis if asked.

Q: Can you provide 24 hour service and how does that work?

A: Yes we can provide 24 hour service. Depending on the extent of care needs we would provide care in 12 hour shifts or 24 hour shifts (Which would be called a Live In).

Q: Do you provide hospice services?

A: We provide Personal in home care and companion services for hospice clients. We are not a Medicare hospice program.

Q: What is the geographic area of coverage for your program?

A: We are registered to work in Citrus and Hernando under a Nurse Registry License and Hernando, Citrus and Pasco Counties under a Homemaker Companion License.

Q: Who provides the care in our agency?

A: We have homemaker companions, Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aids. We give all our caregivers and companions the continued education that they need to help them in the field. All of our caregivers and companions have Level II FBI background Checks as well Local Law Enforcement Backgrounds checks done. We also check their Driver’s License records on a quarterly basis.

Q: Can I pick my caregiver?

A: We attempt to make the best match possible with all our caregivers and clients. There are several factors that are involved including location, schedule, etc. Your input is very important and we will work with you to ensure your needs are met. If there is a caregiver you prefer we will make the best attempt possible to accommodate your request. You may also have us set up interviews with you and a few caregivers so you may choose the one you feel will be a better fit for you family and needs.

Q: What are the minimum hours required per shift or per week?

A: We have a 3 hour daily minimum. Your rate does not ever change. You can have us one day a week for 3 hours or every day for 3 hours all the way up to 24 hours a day.

Q: Can I get 2 hours in the morning and then 2 hours in the evening?

A: Please contact us; there may be different situations that call for some changes. We can handle that in a different forum.

Q: Can they drive me to my doctor appointments?

A: Yes, the caregivers/companions can take you to your appointments. That is why we keep their Driver’s License, Registration and Insurance on file.

Q: How do you handle the mileage expense if they drive me around?

A: If the Caregiver/companion drives you in their car we will charge you .50 cents per mile. If they take you out in your own car there is no charge for mileage at all.

Q: Will they do housework and laundry?

A: Yes they can do light housework routinely.

Q: When my caregiver cooks for me is it my choice to share the meal them?

A: We encourage all Caregiver/Companions to bring their own food to prepare and ask them to avoid eating the client’s food.

Q: What if I want to take the Caregiver/Companion out to lunch on me?

A: You may take your care companion to lunch as long as their part of the bill is less than $25.

Q: Can I give the Caregiver/Companion a gift?

A: Occasional gifts less than $25 for events such as birthdays and holidays are allowed but not expected. We tell our staff not to accept gifts of larger amounts, loans, or personal work from the clients or their families. We are here to help you not burden or add anything else to you.

Q: How does my caregiver document their hours?

A: Our caregivers/companions fill out a form called Time Sheets that you and they sign for proof of hours.

Q: Will my caregiver speak English clearly?

A: Yes. We have several caregivers that are fluent bilingual Spanish/English as well as other languages. If you or your family member requires a bi-lingual caregiver feel free to speak with our owners or staff.

Q: What if I don’t like my caregiver?

A: It is very important to Family Friends Home Care that your satisfaction is one of our primary foundations. Our owners are very involved and are in the office and available 24 hours a day. Call us and explain the situation and we will work with you to find a solution that meets your satisfaction. Your satisfaction is critical to us and we want to know immediately if there are any concerns.

Q: Who pays for the services you provide?

A: Payment can come from private pay, long term care insurers, trust funds, and Med Waivers. Payment can only be checks or cash at this time. If there is family out of town paying for the services we can make arrangements for this to be done via mail.

Q: Is there a charge for initial assessments for caregiver services?

A: The initial assessment is free.

Q: What do your company’s services generally cost?

A: Our Rates are the lowest in the 3 counties we serve. Our rates do not change per county or per hours. Please contact us for more information.

Q: Do I pay anything up front?

A: No there is no deposit.

Q: How often do I get billed?

A: If private pay you pay the caregiver weekly and we bill you for the difference monthly. If it is insurance or med waiver we bill monthly and you do not have to do anything.

Q: Do you take Medicare or Medicaid?

A: If Medicaid or Med Waiver is willing to pay for the services then we provide them.

Q: Do you provide service for APD Clientel?

A: Yes we are certified by Florida State to provide services to clients who are with APD. You will need to talk to your support coordinator in order for us to provide the services to you.
